Dario Chiazzolino

Italian-born, New York–based guitarist and composer Dario Chiazzolino is a commanding and unmistakable voice in contemporary jazz guitar. A fearless improviser with a deeply melodic instinct, he brings together harmonic sophistication, rhythmic intensity, technical authority, and an instantly recognizable sound. Throughout his career, Chiazzolino has performed and recorded with some of the most influential musicians in modern jazz, including Billy Cobham, Bob Mintzer, Dave Liebman, Andy Sheppard, Horacio “El Negro” Hernández, Taylor Eigsti, Aaron Goldberg, Keyon Harrold, Dominique Di Piazza, and members of the Yellowjackets. His extensive discography as a bandleader, sideman, featured artist, and co-producer spans original contemporary jazz, intimate acoustic projects, and forward-looking jazz fusion. He has also been a core member of Spirit Fingers alongside Greg Spero, Hadrien Feraud, and Mike Mitchell, appearing on releases for Shanachie Records and Ropeadope. A recipient of the Umbria Jazz Award and recognition from the Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation, Chiazzolino has appeared at Umbria Jazz, the Montreux Jazz Festival, NYC Winter Jazzfest, the London Jazz Festival, the Indy Jazz Festival, and SFJAZZ, as well as renowned venues including the Blue Note and Ronnie Scott’s. His music is driven by virtuosity, creative risk, and an uncompromising commitment to pushing improvised music forward.
