Press for 'I Want to Be the Anchor': 8/10 "A rare kind of conviction... deliberate and deeply human." MYSTIC SONS "Remarkably assured" NO TRANSMISSION "A distinctive songwriting heart at the centre of it all." RODDY HART, BBC RADIO SCOTLAND Scottish songstress Emma Miller has long been touted for her spellbinding voice and poignant lyricism. Her music is relational, real and deeply layered. Originally from just above the Highlands in north east Scotland, there’s a subtle Celtic inflection in her tone and delivery that only adds to the depth of her songwriting. With influences ranging from teenage years listening to Imogen Heap and Joni Mitchell to discovering voices like Kate Bush and Sarah McLachlan, it’s Miller’s unique blend of powerful melodies, deeply personal songwriting and crystal clear, bell-like vocals that make her a truly captivating artist and performer. Cult magazine CLASH noting "her folk-hewn work has blossomed into something remarkable” and BBC 6 Music's Tom Robinson proclaiming her vocals as "rich as a Belgium truffle”. In Spring 2025 Miller achieved a bucket list dream, flying to Tennessee to spend 3 weeks deep in the countryside recording her debut album with producer Nick Bullock at Freda Recordings. The result is an honest, heartfelt and deeply personal body of work realised in ‘I Want to Be the Anchor’. The 11 track record is exclusively available on vinyl, CD and as a direct purchase, with streaming seeing a partial release of ‘Side A’.
