Biography & Metadata
Ozark Mountain Duo-Honest songs from the long road March to August is comprised of Derrick and Jodi Mears based out of the Ozark Mountains. Known for storytelling, thought-provoking lyrics, and varied instrument configurations, their roots-driven style melds elements of Americana, Alt-Country and Bluegrass genres of music with powerful songwriting. Derrick’s rich vocals combined with banjo, guitar and harmonica and Jodi’s rhythmic foundation powered by bass, stomp box percussion and lap steel round out an unexpected full sound from just two musicians. Their live shows engage listeners through stories, humorous banter and unexpected random nuggets, facts and trivia from their on-going and extensive web searches. They write concept albums where all the songs fit together to tell a larger story as evident from their 2024 record, Songs Inspired by Witness, which received strong reviews and debuted as one of the top 50 albums on the Alternative Country and Folk charts. In June 2026 they released their fourth studio album Highway 75, a dual work of prose and musical storytelling, which chronicles the journey of a long haul trucker searching for forgiveness as he drives the interstate that runs from South Florida to the Canadian border. They tour extensively across the US bringing their honest songs and hard truths from the long road to audiences far and wide.
