Ben Goheen

Ben Goheen is a freelance cellist based in the Lower Mainland of BC. Since moving from Ontario, he’s had the pleasure of performing with renowned ensembles such as the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Vancouver Opera Orchestra, Vancouver Island Symphony Orchestra, and the Vancouver Inter-Cultural Orchestra. As an active chamber musician, Ben loves collaborating with a variety of other players for recital series and house concerts, and he performs regularly with the Somerset Trio — known for its creative programming and intimate venues — and the Rose Gellert String Quartet, the quartet-in-residence at Langley Community Music School. Alongside performing, Ben is passionate about teaching and connects with a full roster of cello students throughout each week. His work as a recording artist has also led him into the studio, where he enjoys exploring new sides of musical creativity. And for a decade, he was a conductor with the Surrey Youth Orchestra, sharing his love for music with the next generation. And when he's not performing or teaching, you might just catch him on the beach volleyball court, enjoying a little friendly competition offstage!
