Ron Adelaar

“I begin playing purely by feeling and allow my intuition to guide me from the first notes on the piano, naturally leading to the unfolding of a musical piece.” Dutch pianist and composer Ron Adelaar creates music straight from emotion and intuition. Ron is also co-founder of the Amsterdam-based label Andante Piano, supporting and guiding emerging piano artists. Born in 1960 in Amersfoort, The Netherlands, Ron began improvising at a young age while playing organ and piano in local churches. That spontaneous and honest way of creating music still forms the foundation of his work today. Inspired by silence, nature, family, love, hope, and reflection, his neoclassical piano music invites listeners to slow down and reconnect with themselves. Many of his pieces are recorded in a single take, preserving the emotion exactly as it was felt in that moment. A major source of inspiration became his journeys on the Camino, walking for many weeks and hundreds of kilometers to Santiago de Compostela. The rhythm of walking and the space for reflection deeply influenced both his life and music. Influenced by Stephan Moccio, Nils Frahm and Ólafur Arnalds, Ron’s music blends intimacy, atmosphere, and storytelling into a deeply personal listening experience.
