Marcel Martenez

Marcel Martenez is a German DJ and electronic music producer who has never been particularly interested in fitting into one musical box. His connection with electronic music began at the age of 15. With no formal musical background, he taught himself how to DJ, experimented with music and recorded his first mixtapes on cassette to share with friends at school. What started simply as a passion for music continued to grow over the years. Producing his own music came later and was another craft he largely taught himself. In 2015, the first official productions and remixes under the Marcel Martenez name were released, followed by numerous original tracks, remixes and releases on different labels. Rather than developing around one fixed genre, his music has always been driven by curiosity. House and electronic dance music remain an important part of his roots, but his productions move freely between different influences and styles – sometimes deep and melodic, sometimes bass-driven and club-focused, and sometimes more experimental. That freedom has become an essential part of Marcel Martenez as an artist. Instead of following a particular formula or producing whatever happens to be trending, he prefers to combine different ideas, experiment with sounds and simply create what feels right at the time. After more than two decades of exploring electronic music, that approach remains unchanged: keep evolving, keep experimenting and, above all, make music he genuinely enjoys.
