UTILITY

UTILITY is the solo project of Sydney-based composer, producer and Trackwork founder Austin Benjamin, working across experimental composition, rap, sound art and underground club music. His practice is defined by long-form collaboration and cross-regional exchange, connecting Australian underground scenes with artists across Africa, Europe, the UK and the Americas. Through Trackwork, Benjamin has helped shape key moments in contemporary Australian club and rap culture — from bringing Durban Gqom pioneers Formation Boyz into an ARIA-nominated release to producing Snoee Badman’s 3badman, the first record created inside an Australian maximum-security prison. Alongside his solo work, his output spans international touring, curatorial projects and collaborations across contemporary music, visual art and underground club infrastructure.
