Biography & Metadata

Rob Aspinall is a Melbourne-based Alt-Soul artist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer blending R&B, neo-soul, jazz and hip hop into rich, emotionally resonant soundscapes. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Hiatus Kaiyote, Jordan Rakei and Allen Stone, his sound is defined by lush instrumentation, complex progressions, and a refusal to play small when it comes to his vocal arrangements. Rob Aspinall continues to build his release momentum with his latest single "Making Time For Peace", the second single from his debut EP, Your Life Is Coming. Upbeat, organic and warm, the track is softer than its predecessor. Latin grooves and interlocking percussion sit beneath the intricate chord progressions and extensive vocal layering that have become Rob's signature. At its centre are elevator sound effects, a metaphorical nod to the moments that force you to slow down. It draws from Jordan Rakei's "Talk To Me" and Hiatus Kaiyote's "Get Sun", and marks a deliberate move towards music made for street dancers to move to. Written after a period of grinding so hard towards music that there was little room left to enjoy anything else, the song reflects on what shifted once Rob forced himself to make time for peace: a calmer, more natural way of being, and a willingness to create in place of urgency. "Making Time For Peace" is the second release from Your Life Is Coming, out November 4, 2026, with Rob's EP launch show on November 5.
