Biography & Metadata

Come see me live in Paris on October 2nd 2026 ! https://shotgun.live/fr/events/sumac-dub-la-maroquinerie Trained in classical music at the conservatory from a young age, Sumac quickly felt the need to break free from the confines of academic learning. Throughout his career, Sumac has distinguished himself through his artistic vision and recognizable style within the French electro dub scene. After the success of his first album "Le Jardin de Lucy", released in 2015 on the ODGPROD label and now boasting nearly 20 million listens, he has broadened his musical horizons to transcend stylistic boundaries and take his music beyond dub. Following his latest album "Norska", Sumac decided to embark on a bold musical journey, gradually moving away from well-trodden paths to create something new, something more personal. Built around a conversation between the artist and his father watching shooting stars, his new album LYRAE delves into themes of memory, transmission, and our relationship with the past, present, and future. Like a natural alignment of the stars, this family treasure, buried for over twenty years, resurfaced to give the work its profoundly human dimension. It invites the listener into the warmth of familial intimacy, the innocence of childhood wonder, and the quiet awe of a father contemplating the infinite. In the end, it gently reminds us of our own fleeting nature in the vast expanse of time.
