Pierre Kwenders

An alchemist transforms matter to reveal the gold within; Pierre Kwenders, for his part, wields languages and musical genres to craft a sound that is uniquely his own. His signature style is instantly recognizable. Singing and rapping in Lingala, French, English, Tshiluba, and Kikongo, the singer-songwriter tells stories where the personal meets the collective, and the collective connects with the universal. Winner of the Polaris Music Prize for his previous album, José Louis and the Paradox of Love, he opens a new chapter with TRIANGLE D’OR: Shadows into Gold. Born out of a period of loss and upheaval, this album—his most pop-oriented to date—transforms vulnerability into movement and seeks light amidst uncertainty.
