Biography & Metadata

Marcel Woods is one of the more successful Dutch trance producers and is also a globe-trotting DJ as well as the founder of the label Rytmic. Born Marcel Scheffers, he began establishing himself as a trance producer during the late '90s, around the same time he founded Rytmic. His first big success came in 2001 with the release of "De Bom 2001" on Byte Progressive. Originally titled "De Bom" and released in 1998 on Rytmic, the track was made available in a three-minute radio edit and popular throughout Western Europe. In 2002 Woods began releasing his productions in partnership with ID&T, one of the largest dance labels in the Netherlands. When ID&T closed up shop in 2005 and essentially became Be Yourself Music, Woods -- like many ID&T affiliates -- remained and began releasing his productions on High Contrast Recordings, one of the newly established labels overseen by Be Yourself Music. Some of Woods' most popular productions, including "Time's Running Out" (2003), "Advanced" (2005), and "Cherry Blossom" (2005), were released during his tenure with ID&T and High Contrast Recordings. During this same period in time, he made his official mix CD debut with ID&T Hardtrance, Vol. 4 (2004), followed by High Contrast Presents Marcel Woods (2006), and Trance Energy (2008); all were double-disc releases. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi
