Loverboy Nel is an independent Canadian rapper and founder of Good Fortune, evolving from casual music-making to a dedicated artist. Starting with friends in a small band, Nel turned to music to cope with depression and stress, later finding joy in creating. He began recording songs on his phone for YouTube, paving the way for his debut studio album. His first single, “Last Time,” featured Gemst0ne, followed by other tracks for his album. Nel collaborated with nAvvvi on “Scumbag” and joined 27REEVES for the 27CASUALTIES project which featured many artists. In April, he released “NORMAL” with gizmo, and on January 20, 2023, dropped “Alone” with Yusdrew. His album, NUKE CITY (April 1, 2025), features seven tracks over 15 minutes, blending introspective lyrics with energetic beats. The lead single, “DO WHAT I WANT ” It features his homie Static. Recent singles like “Addicted to Love” and “CHROME,” teased on social platforms, highlight his evolving lo-fi hip-hop style. With a “don’t give a fuck” attitude, Nel creates raw, authentic music to connect with fans under Good Fortune.Good Fortune, founded by Nel in Winnipeg around 2020, is a DIY music label focused on raw and complex music. It showcases Nel’s authentic storytelling through releases like NUKE CITY and singles such as “NOSE BLEED,” “OBSOLETE,” on Spotify and “BAD BOI” on SoundCloud. The label channels Nel’s passion for music, transforming it from therapy into a vibrant, fan-connected creative outlet.
