Biography & Metadata

Torneo are an alternative rock band originally from Falmouth, Cornwall. Formed at university by a group of freshers students, they quickly established a reputation for frequent and intense local gigs within the hazy underground music scene of South West England, noticed locally for their blend of shoegaze, 60's psychedelia and punk as well as their frenetic and unpredictable "bottle rocket" energy. From 2021 to 2023, the band would release a slew of sporadic, self produced singles, earning airplay on BBC Radio 1 and BBC Introducing South West. In late 2024 they released their self-titled debut album, Torneo, described by Karol Kamiński of IDIOTEQ Magazine as “a dynamic and buzzing amalgam of various inspirations, oscillating between lush, dreamy shoegaze and raw, organic energy.” Following their graduation, bassist Will Walters and rhythm guitarist Ben Norbury departed the band, leaving Charlie Driver, Joe Yeates and Ryan Moore at the helm. A second album was written soon after, but was delayed and ultimately shelved following Moore’s temporary departure in early 2025, effectively placing the band on indefinite hiatus. Material from those sessions later surfaced as singles including “Somersaults” and “How’d Yuno”. In 2026, Moore rejoined the band after a small journey of personal reflection and growth, reuniting the trio as they began writing and recording a new run of material in rural Wales.
