Biography & Metadata

Brad Myers is an accomplished, Cincinnati-based jazz guitarist, composer, and educator known for his expressive synergy and cross-genre collaborations. A musical "shape-shifter," Myers seamlessly transitions from accompanying Mandy Gaines and swinging with the The Cincinnati Contemporary Jazz Orchestra to getting funky with Steve Schmidt’s Organ Trio and John Zappa’s Now Hear This, or engaging in intimate duo conversations with Michael Sharfe. His versatile style also fuels diverse projects like Tinfoil Hat Cowboys, Aja (Steely Dan tribute), Joe's Truck Stop, The Hiders, and Ray's Music Exchange. Originally from the D.C. area, Myers began playing the guitar at 10, eventually shifting his focus to jazz influenced by the music of Jim Hall and Pat Metheny. He relocated to Ohio in 1994 to study at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) on an Honors Scholarship, later returning to earn his Master's in Jazz Studies in 2015. Today, he shares his expertise as a faculty member for CCM and the CCM Prep Jazz Department. As a leader, Myers stepped into the spotlight with his 2015 solo debut, Prime Numbers, on his label, Colloquy Records, earning a four-star review from DownBeat magazine. Whether collaborating on the conversational duo album Sanguinaria (Hopefulsongs) with Michael Sharfe or anchoring regional ensembles, Myers pairs technical mastery with a playful, improvisational spirit that keeps him at the heart of the regional music scene.
