Astray is a lyricist, storyteller, songwriter, and producer representing Saginaw and Detroit, Michigan. Adopted at birth, his name reflects a life lived off the beaten path — first by circumstance, then by choice. Rather than settling for comfort, Astray chose to follow the talents God gave him and turn survival, pain, and experience into purpose. His music is rooted in pure lyricism, blending technical rhyme schemes, sharp wordplay, vivid storytelling, and an emotional delivery that pulls listeners into the world he is describing. Raised between very different realities, Astray’s life shaped the depth and contrast in his music. His sound is grimy and gutter, yet sophisticated and sarcastic — able to shift from braggadocious lyrical acrobatics to personal reflection, street stories, heartbreak, aggression, or redemption. Influenced by Nas, Elzhi, Jay-Z, Eminem, Big Pun, Big L, and Twista, he carries the tradition of elite emceeing while filtering it through his own voice, scars, humor, and perspective. In 2015, Astray reached a major milestone when he was signed by Eminem and Paul Rosenberg to Shady Music Publishing as a songwriter and producer. He has also built a strong underground following through records like “Coming To You” with Jelly Roll and has landed on the Billboard charts with two solo albums. At his core, Astray is an emcee with something to prove — an artist determined to tell his story at the highest level and be remembered as one of the best to ever do it.
